You are being asked to participate in this study as a healthy volunteer. The purpose of this
research experiment is to better understand how vision and touch affect the perception of one’s
own body. To participate in this study, you must be a fully healthy participant without any
neurological or psychiatric disorders, nor take any medicine to treat such disorders.
The study will take place at Biomedicum, Karolinska Institutet.
It consists of a 20-minute pre-test, which if you meet the criteria for continuing, will be followed
by 1.5 hours of the main experiment. You will be asked to lie on a bed and watch movies of a
mannequin's body in a VR headset, whilst you receive taps to your chest via a plastic stick that are
in or out of time with respect to what you see in the VR headset.
The experiment is reimbursed with 150 SEK (taxable) per hour, or 1 cinema ticket in the case of only
participating in the pre-test (determined onsite). The whole experiment is anticipated to take a
maximum of 2 hours.
Upon registering your interest, you will be contacted with further information.
Thank you very much !
All the best, Sophie O'Kane
