Our research group wants to increase understanding of the mechanisms that regulate appetite, and how
these mechanisms may be impaired in people with eating disorders. In connection with this, we are
looking for healthy individuals without an eating disorder aged 18-45 to participate in an
experimental study investigating the experience of food smells.
This is a two-session study. The two sessions must occur within 14 days of each other. Both times
you skip breakfast - a meal that you usually have.
How does the study work?
You will come in for two testing sessions. In one session you will complete the experiment while
hungry and receive a snack afterwards. In the other session you will first eat a meal that we
provide and then complete the experiment.
We will test your sense of smell, and you will complete a few questionnaires about your physical and
mental health, and about your relationship with food and weight. The experiment tasks contains two
types of stimulus items: pictures that are presented on a computer screen, and odors that are
presented directly to your nose. You will be rating how much you want to eat these items, and how
pleasant they are. You will also complete a reaction time task.
After completing the study (session 1 and 2), you will receive gift cards worth 400 sek (taxable).
The testing sessions will take place in the morning or just before lunch. Each session will take 1.5
to 2 hours and takes place at campus Solna. You should not have eaten or drunk anything but water
(including coffee) since the evening prior to the day of the study session.
Who can apply?
To participate you must:
- Have a personal number/coordination number
