WHAT?
This is a behavioural and physiological study investigating how we perceive our own body.
During the experiment, you will lie comfortably on an examination bed and wear a virtual reality
(VR) headset. You will see a mannequin’s body being gently touched, while your own body is touched
in the same way at the same time. Many participants find this virtual reality experience
interesting.
We will also record skin conductance (SCR), similar to measuring heart rate. This involves placing
small electrodes on your fingers to record natural signals from the skin. No electrical stimulation
is delivered, and the procedure is completely safe and non-invasive.
The experiment includes four conditions (each repeated three times) and takes approximately one
hour.
WHO?
You should be between 18 and 50 years old, in good health, have no history of neurological or
psychiatric illness, not take related medication, and not have participated in similar experiments
before. Good understanding of English is required.
COMPENSATION?
You will receive 250 SEK (taxable), paid via Karolinska Institutet’s payroll office (usually on
the 25th of the following month), or a cinema voucher (150-200 SEK, no tax).
WHEN?
After signing up, you will receive a link where you can fill in your availability and choose a
suitable time slot. You will also receive an automatic reminder one day before your session.
Please note that time slots are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
