Emotion in Language Processing

Av Ekaterina Kopaeva Skapad: 2026-05-12

Lund University is conducting a study of the interaction of emotions and language processing, and we are looking for native English speakers to participate.

In this EEG study, you as a participant will listen to music and recall emotional experiences from your past, and then read sentences and answer questions on the computer, while an electrode cap measures your brain activity.

The experiment is held at the Humanities Lab at the Centre for Languages and Literature (SOL) of Lund University and is estimated to take between 3 and 4 hours total spent in the lab, of which between 1.5 and 2 hours is an EEG recording.

For your participation, you get two vouchers to Filmstaden (equal to two tickets to see films of your choice at any of the Filmstaden cinemas in Sweden) and one Lund City gift card worth 150 sek, which you can use in Lund at affiliated businesses.

If you are:
- a native English speaker,
- right-handed,
- between 18 and 40,
- have no brain injury, epilepsy or other neurological conditions,
- have no neurodevelopmental conditions (such as ADHD, ASD),
- have no diagnosed anxiety or mood disorders (such as depression, OCD, bipolar, mania),
- have no learning difficulties (such as dyslexia),
you are very welcome to take part!

Feel free to contact us if you want more information or have any questions.
