Study aimed at communicating emotions via touch

Av Martha Paskin Skapad: 2026-08-13

We want to study if and how human emotions can be infered using a tactile sensory modality. Participants will wear a tactile suit which will deliver different sensations and answer questions relating to the sensation. Completely non-invasive.

In this study, participants will be required to wear an upper body tactile suit while performing a behavioral task on a computer. In each trial, the suit will deliver a sensation using electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) on areas including arms, abdomen and back. The suit will be calibrated to each individual such that the sensations are within their comfort level. This is a completely non-invasive process and has been used in sports science for years. OBS: The tactile suit will be skin-tight.

The whole experiment will take 1.5 hours and you will receive Hurray gift cards worth 2 x 99 SEK (total 198 SEK) for participating.

Location: Blombäcks väg 25 (previously Retzius väg 13A), Karolinska Institutet Solna Campus.
Directions will be sent via email the day before your appointment.
Nearest bus stop is Karolinska institutet Biomedicum.

If you would like a later or earlier timeslot, send a message.
