Virtual reality study on body perception (Part two)

Av Ludwig Lundstedt Skapad: 2026-09-09

Thanks for your interest in taking part in our study!

My name is Ludwig Lundstedt, and I am a PhD student at the Brain, Body and Self Lab at Karolinska Institutet.

We are currently recruiting participants for a research study investigating how people experience their own body. The study uses virtual reality to explore how vision and touch contribute to how we perceive our own body.

I’ll briefly explain what participation involves. If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask, I’m happy to help.

During the experiment, you will lie comfortably on a bed while wearing a pair of VR (virtual reality) goggles. You will see a body through the VR goggles, while at the same time feeling gentle touches on your own body. During some parts of the experiment, you will also see brief virtual threatening events while we record your physiological responses using non-invasive sensors attached to your fingers. These events are entirely virtual, and nothing threatening will physically come into contact with you. The experiment consists of several short blocks, and you will answer short questions about your experiences towards the end.

The entire session takes about 1 hour, including preparation. Participation is completely voluntary, and you are free to withdraw at any time without giving a reason.

We are inviting healthy volunteers aged 18 to 50 to take part in the study.

Compensation is 250 SEK (taxable). If you prefer, you may instead choose a cinema ticket or a gift card (gift cards become taxable if their total value exceeds 1,000 SEK during a calendar year).

Before booking a time, I just need to check your eligibility using a few quick yes/no questions.

If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll send those over. I will then also send you more detailed information about the study and your role as a research participant.

Best,
Ludwig Lundstedt

FYI: The address is Solnavägen 9, 171 65 Solna, Stockholm. The building is Biomedicum. I will give you more details once we agree on a time and date.

Thank you, and I hope to see you soon! 🙂
